Purpose
Cereal-NS+ is a commercial seed treatment containing a dynamic collection of symbiotic microbes. The fungi impart abiotic stress tolerance to crops for stresses such as extreme temperatures and drought. They also increase nutrient use efficiency, allowing plants to operate more efficiently and increase crop yields.
Cereal-NS+ microbes will remain dormant when coated on seeds, until activated by moisture levels sufficient to stimulate seed germination. Upon activation, the bacteria will establish in rhizosphere soils and solubilize bound minerals and nutrients, making them more available to plants through their root system.
Mixing Directions
For optimum freshness some Cereal-NS+ ingredients are packaged separately. Before use, empty Biologicals bag on top of powder and stir for 30-40 seconds. Product should be well mixed and ready to use.
Application Directions
To achieve optimal seed coverage, apply Cereal-NS+ directly to dry seed alone or in combination with other powder inoculants and/or seed treatments. Cereal-NS+ is formulated to be compatible with existing seed treatment equipment and certain chemicals* and can be simply added as an additional component during the seed treatment process. Do not mix directly with products containing fungicides or biocides. Do not use with soil fumigants, and do not exceed label dosage rates.
*Ask Direct Biologicals for approved chemicals tested for compatibility with Cereal-NS+. Do not mix with non-approved agrochemicals or product mortality may occur. Always use separate tanks when other chemical treatments are necessary.
The Cereal-NS+ microbial inoculant can be applied to seed following one of two methods:
1) The product can be applied manually using a scoop as seed is being loaded into the planter hopper (CCS unit) or individual row unit. Make sure the product is evenly dispersed onto the seed as it fills the hopper or row unit. If applied at the individual row unit, a power drill with an auger bit can be used to evenly disperse the product onto the seed.
2) The product can be applied using equipment designed to meter dry products onto seed as they are being transferred up a conveyor or auger either on the farm or at a seed treatment location. Be sure the product is applied evenly over the seed as it enters the conveyor or auger.
Storage
To maintain performance of these live microbes, keep container closed until use and do not expose to direct sunlight, freezing, or temperatures above 80°F/27°C. For best results use product by expiration date on label.
Disposal & Caution
Follow any local applicable waste disposal regulations for inoculants and plant amendments. Wash hands with soap and water after using. Do not swallow or breath powder. Avoid contact with eyes and open skin. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
